Afraid of the Dark

Posted on 06. Oct, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

By guest blogger – Wakenda Willingham

Do you remember when you were a child and you were afraid of the dark, or the monster under the bed? Our parents always told us there was nothing to be afraid of and often times they would turn on the lights and tell us to look under the bed only to discover that nothing was there. They would tuck us in and we felt safe knowing that we were protected and there was nothing to fear. (more…)

How Long Can You Stand to Feel Good?

Posted on 16. Aug, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

Julie Colwell, Ph.D.

Katie Hendricks asserts that most of us can stand to feel good for about 4 seconds. At that point, we’ll do something to interrupt the pleasant feeling: create a fear or critical thought, notice what is wrong, even bump into something to cause pain in our bodies.

This is known as the Upper Limit Problem, or ULP. Noticing when we ULP is a first step towards helping our bodies evolve into a higher and higher level of consciousness, one where we walk around living from the reality of what works, what is beautiful, how the world comes forward to meet all of our needs, how every breath in us and our fellow beings is actually a total miracle.

So–how long can you stand to feel good? Time yourself. Watch your thoughts, and see how long you can think only positive things. Listen in on your conversations and see if you and the people you’re speaking with can actually stay focused on what is working. Then–try making it longer. Build your feeling-good muscles.

Focus On Your Goals

Posted on 14. Jul, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

One of the biggest keys on getting free from your Goo is focusing on what you want instead of what you don’t want.  Where you want to go instead of where you don’t want to go.

A great example of this takes place at high performance driving schools where they teach people how to drive race cars.  They do an exercise where an obstacle course is set up and the student will drive through the course with the instructor sitting next to them letting them know when to “turn left, turn right, turn left.”  It never fails that the student will hit one of the obstacles even though the instructor is telling them exactly when to turn so they don’t hit anything. What Is Your Passion?

Posted on 03. Jun, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

One way to start to find out what is your passion is to ask yourself what is it that you love to talk about.  Once you get started you can’t stop.  It is effortless.  Actually it is invigorating and energizing to talk about this topic or item.

For me it was a toss up between energy work/empowerment and sustainable building.  If someone got me started talking about either one, I could talk for hours and never realize it. (more…)

“Can’t Never Did Anything.”

Posted on 28. Feb, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

When I was growing up, anytime I told my Dad that I can’t do something, he would reply, “can’t never did anything.”  And as annoying as that was to hear I knew he was right.

Think about it.  Name one thing that has ever been attributed to “can’t.”

The Wright brothers had a bicycle shop.  Why were they the first ones who succeeded in developing motorized flight?  It certainly was not because they told themselves we can’t.  They did not ask why are we qualified to pursue this?  They just asked how to do it and kept going until they found the answer.

It is said that Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 times before he discovered the incandescent light bulb.  He had over 1,000 opportunities to say “I can’t” but he didn’t because “can’t never did anything.” (more…)

Ho’oponopono Rocks!

Posted on 24. Feb, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

So here I was in the middle of a past-life meltdown.  Beating myself up for what I had done in a particular past life. (it was not pretty)  And sitting in victimhood.  Believing I could not possibly be released and forgiven having done such a horrible thing.  (let’s just say there were more than a few deaths that I had a fairly direct roll in during this particular past-life)

My friend Claudia suggested I do Ho’oponopono to forgive myself and release this limiting energy.  Here is what she told me: (more…)

Shadows are Dynamite

Posted on 17. Feb, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

Have you ever done something that you were certain was going to go so right only to have it blow up in your face? If you are like me, this has happened more than once in your lifetime.

It can take all kinds of forms.  From preparing a special meal for someone only to find out they can’t stand some of the ingredients, to accepting a job you are sure will propel you in your career but it turns out to be a nightmare or even the classic, offering a kiss to someone and (more…)

Love is Never Wrong

Posted on 10. Feb, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

Motivation is fear based.  As my friend and mentor Michael Tamura says  Everyone can run to some extent.  And if a bear was chasing you, you would run the fastest you ever have.  You are motivated to do it because you fear for your life.

Fear is a low level energy.  It is not a high level energy like excitement, or enthusiasm or inspiration.

Inspiration, however, (more…)

Blogophobia

Posted on 08. Feb, 2010 by in The Goo Blog

Blogophobia is an intense, unrealistic fear that inhibits me from believing I have anything to write about in my blog.

I self diagnosed this condition in myself earlier today and, until I just started typing, have been suffering from its effects all day.

It is kind of funny to be paralyzed by the fear that I have nothing to write about when there really are no limitations on what you can write about on a blog.  Even writing about the fear of writing, as I am now, is a perfectly viable subject.

Really all it took (more…)
